This can opener bridge is a little closer to the ground than you might expect. Watch these 21 trucks find that out the hard way..Topless
This is the quintessential video. A rental truck, driven by someone without much experience in driving trucks, hits the bridge at full speed, despite the warning signs and flashing lights. As a result, the truck is a few inches shorter now.
Unlike most of the drivers on this list, this person wasn’t driving a rental truck. That does not help in preventing the inevitable disaster.
This may be one of the more spectacular crashes on this list. A large rental truck turns right and immediately crashes into the bridge. The force of the impact was great enough to tip the truck and lift it off the right two wheels.
In my personal favorite, a driver inches forward, clearly full of indecision, but goes for it anyway only to be brought up short with a solid THUNK. It’s absolute perfection. Not as flashy as some of the other videos, but elegant in its simplicity.
This truck was speeding as it hit the bridge, which makes this crash worse than most. The truck hits the bridge with such force that it lifts the entire cab up off the front two wheels. As a bonus, you can see the damage the truck sustained as it drives away.
Even if your truck itself can fit under the bridge, you also have to pay attention to the height of your load. This driver learned that the hard way.
In this two-for-one deal, a pair of trucks crashed into this bridge within a few hours of each other. Interestingly, they were both from the same rental company.
An industrial vacuum truck hits the bridge at full speed, sustaining massive damage. Not a good day for that driver.
This rental truck hits the bridge so hard it pulls the entire top of the truck off. The top actually stays attached to the bridge’s crossbeam as the truck drives away. A truly spectacular crash.
This truck carrying a storage pod collides with the bridge. The storage pod was not attached very firmly and comes completely off from the truck. Honestly, it’s not a bad outcome considering some of the damage other unfortunate trucks sustain.
In one of the best videos of the set, you’ll see the driver start out heading away from the bridge (a good decision) but then turning around and goes for the bridge anyway. At least this driver had the presence of mind to go relatively slowly.
Here we see a rare example of a large semi colliding with the bridge. Most large truck drivers are experienced enough to avoid small bridges, but this one obviously did not get the message.
This truck crashes into the bridge at full speed, and the damage is so extensive that flying debris from the crash impacts nearby cars. One person’s windshield was broken. There’s also a side view of the damage the truck sustained.
Here is a truck that hit the bridge and got absolutely torn to shreds. There’s very little truck left after this crash. Rest in pieces, truck.
Here’s a pretty laid-back crash, but at the end it looks like the last part of the box that couldn’t fit under the bridge almost gets torn off the truck. A little faster and this truck might have been in two pieces.
This truck slams into the bridge, and its top gets shredded for it. Watch for those warning lights, driver.
Here’s another example of a truck hitting the bridge so fast that it lifts the front two wheels. You would think that the bright flashing warning lights would at least get the driver to slow down a little, if not stop completely and rethink their life choices.
This truck not only suffers heavy damage from the bridge, but also gets stuck underneath it as well. It is not a good day for that driver.
Lastly, here is a Walmart truck colliding with the bridge. To their credit, the drive seems to realize the mistake at the last second, but it’s too late and no amount of braking will stop the inevitable.
